Welcome to Prager High Holidays!

This is the registration site to attend the 2023 High Holiday Services with Dennis Prager. Services are non-denominational and people of every background are welcome.

Please note: This is the registration site to attend the services this year in person. For those who aren't comfortable attending live services or don't live in the Southern California region, there will be live-streaming of the services.

The live-streaming is being produced by Dennis's radio syndicator, and the link to register for on-line access is HERE:

Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services will be held this year at a private venue in Encino.

Dennis will be leading four services:

  1.  The first evening of Rosh Hashanah (Friday, September 15)
  2.  The first day of Rosh Hashanah (Saturday, September 16)
  3.  The eve of Yom Kippur — Kol Nidre (Sunday night, September 24)
  4.  The day of Yom Kippur (Monday all day, September 25)

Service times:

Erev Rosh Hashanah (evening service)
7:30 PM – 10:00 PM (candle lighting is at 6:42 PM)

Rosh Hashanah (morning service)
10:00 AM – 1:30 PM

(Please note: There will be no services on the second evening and second day of Rosh Hashanah.)

Erev Yom Kippur – Kol Nidre (evening service)
7:30 PM – 10:00 PM (sunset is at 6:47 PM; the traditional fast begins at 6:29 PM)

Yom Kippur (morning/day service)
11:30 AM – 6:45 PM (the traditional fast ends at 7:23 PM)

Those of you who have been with us in the past know that Dennis remains at services all day on Yom Kippur. In the afternoon, during the two-hour break, he is available to talk with you and answer questions about God, faith, religion, Judaism, life – anything except politics. (Dennis's statement on this: "I feel strongly that the High Holy Days not be used as a forum for political advocacy.")

Once you have purchased tickets, you will receive details such as the address of the venue for services, times, and other relevant information.

Please note that as we are obligated to pay expenses for all services on any given day, we are unable to accommodate requests to purchase tickets for only an evening or day service for one of the holidays. Thank you for your understanding.

Prices:

$300 per adult (Rosh Hashanah only)

$300 per adult (Yom Kippur only)
$450 per adult (both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur)

One minor child accompanied by an adult: Half the above prices.
All additional children under 18 accompanied by an adult are free (people are encouraged to bring their own children, as well as nieces, nephews, grandchildren, neighbor’s kids, etc.).

$175 college students (flat rate covers all attendance, for one or more services).

Notes:

  • There is ample parking at the venue, but to avoid an uphill walk from the parking lot to the door, a shuttle service will be provided. We encourage you to first drop off at the venue door anyone for whom a few-minute wait for the shuttle and/or for whom embarking/disembarking from the vehicle might be difficult and then go and park.
  • We apologize, but for those who prefer not to drive on the holidays, this year's venue is not within walking distance of a hotel or motel.

It is our goal that these services will be among the most meaningful of your life. Dennis will explain or comment on almost all prayers, and will speak about God, life, and our individual situations.

Cantor Michael Freed, along with a small choir and instrumental accompaniment, will lead us in song and prayer.
